As you may already know, Jean Emmanuel Tsang Pun Yin, a 32-year old Mauritian- born Canadian, was involved in a near-fatal accident and is in critical condition.

This tragedy happened after a hit-and-run in Port Perry on January 17th 2010 sending Emmanuel, to hospital with serious injuries. He is still in the Trauma and Neuro-Surgery division in Room 905 of the Intensive Care Unit of St. Michael's Hospital in downtown Toronto. This incident was reported in the Durham Newspaper.

PEOPLE IN MAURITIUS ARE USED TO A MIX OF CULTURES, AND MANY SEE CANADA AS A BILINGUALISM MODEL

It’s a paradise of azure lagoons, swaying sugar cane fields and dramatic mountain formations that has survived the tumult of colonization by two of the world’s biggest language rivals – France and Britain – to emerge with a linguistic dexterity so natural it seems effortless.

Yet, modest at heart, the tiny island nation of Mauritius shrugs it off.
